genealogy lab @ new york public library
The New York Public Library, located in Manhattan, New York, provided a programmatic challenge requiring and interior re-model . The building was to mediate the program of a library and a genealogy lab. The nature-inspired design solution originated from the theory of bio-mimicry; emulation of the systems and patterns of nature, for solving complex human problems. The swimming pattern, migration pattern and shell pattern of the Hawksbill Sea Turtle influenced the shape of grand stair element, circulation, and program layout.
